Safety mask standards update

What does the N95 and KN95 mean?

You could also see the term N95 in the description of protective masks. This time it is the American standard 42 CFR 84 NIOSH , and the protection level KN95 corresponds to the Chinese standard GB 2626-2006 .

The N95 and KN95 masks filter 95% of the particles and are therefore well equivalent to N95 (they filter even 1% more than FFP2, which in turn filter 94%).

What does FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3 mean?

Masks are classified according to three levels of protection in accordance with European standards EN 149-2001 and A1: 2009 . FFP1 level - the level of surgical masks. To protect against Covid-19, the minimum level that is most often recommended is N95 . Masks N95 filter at least 94% of the microparticles, and FFP3 - 99% . FFP stands for Filter Half Mask (disposable respirator).
